Our strategic approach
Our scope and action plan for Downtown Camden is a 5-to-10-year, people-focused strategy. This plan builds on existing initiatives within the Business Improvement District and introduces new, community-centered ideas to foster a dynamic, inclusive environment.
Downtown Camden currently faces a lack of amenities, limited opportunities for people to engage with the space, and a long-lasting negative impression. Those hinder downtown from becoming an active urban core. Meanwhile, automobile-oriented urban design and low street usage are other problems.
On the economic side, the Camden city government gives too many tax breaks to attract large companies. Yet, they employ few residents and do not give back to the community enough.
Solving those problems will be the key to Downtown Camden's future development.
Reimagining urban spaces
We recognize that the space in downtown is not fully utilized, namely, 17% of the space is used as parking lots. We believe in creating spaces that foster connection and activity. Our designs for Downtown Camden focus on enhancing the social and cultural vibrancy of the area, making it a place where diverse people can thrive and engage.
